The 2011 Tan Holdings Bowling League got rolling last Wednesday at the Saipan Bowling Center with some 120 players divided into 12 teams signed up for the competition.
Century Finance took the pole position on Week 1 with 2,707 pinfalls plus handicap after blanking Century Travel & Tours (2,114) in their head-to-head.
POI Aviation is in second place with 2,693 pinfalls after beating against Saipan Grand Hotel (2,397).
In third place is Century Hotel with 2,655 pins. It won over CTSI Logistics, which had 2,580 pins.
Coming in at No. 4 is Century Insurance which mauled Saipan Tribune, 2,534-2,300; while fifth place is occupied by D&Q/Cosmos with 2,691 pins following its narrow victory over Take Care (2,631).
Fiesta Rockers also found itself on the winning side at sixth place but only after withstanding a gallant effort from L&R/RMS, 2,678-2,637.
The rest of the standings are as follows: 7. L&T/RMS; 8. Take Care; 9. CTSI Logistics; 10. Saipan Grand Hotel; 11. Saipan Tribune; and 12. Century Tours & Travel.
Tan Holdings President Jerry Tan said he was happy and pleasantly surprised to see all 12 teams ready and raring to play even before the 6:30pm start of play.
He also told participants to treat the competition not only as a chance to play bowling but also an opportunity to get to know better other employees of the Tan Holdings family.
Senior Vice President Eli Arago, meanwhile, encouraged everyone to do his or her best in the bowling league. He said he himself hasn’t bowled for a while but is looking forward to the four-month competition.
